Cursos son completamente gratuitos
Cursos de Natación para niños, jóvenes y adultos, hidrogimnasia, y clases de Waterpolo, contempla el Programa Actividades Acuáticas 2013, que la Municipalidad de Viña del Mar impartirá en forma gratuita a partir de la primera semana de enero en los sectores de Reñaca Alto, Forestal, Gómez Carreño, Villa Dulce, Nueva Aurora y Achupallas.
Así lo dio a conocer la alcaldesa Virginia Reginato, durante la ceremonia de lanzamiento de esa actividad realizada en la piscina del recientemente inaugurado Complejo Deportivo Municipal Las Achupallas.
En la oportunidad, la primera autoridad comunal destacó la alta demanda de interesados en participar en estos cursos.
“El gran éxito que ha tenido este programa los años anteriores, en el cual han tomado parte más de 35 mil niños, se fundamenta en la premisa de lo importante que es para el ser humano saber nadar. Es por esa razón que por octavo año consecutivo hemos querido implementar este programa, que tiene como principal objetivo enseñar a nadar a quienes aún no saben, perfeccionar a los que han aprendido con nosotros y fomentar la práctica deportiva en familia a través de la natación, durante los meses de enero y febrero”, señaló la alcaldesa Virginia Reginato.
La actividad contempla cursos correspondientes a cuatro períodos de 10 días cada uno, entre los meses de enero y febrero, contándose con tres niveles de aprendizaje distintos, dependiendo del grado de avance del alumno.
La novedad para este verano, es la incorporación en el Complejo Deportivo Municipal Las Achupallas de las clases de Polo Acuático que se sumará a los cursos de natación y a la hidrogimnasia que serán impartidas en las demás piscinas existentes en la comuna.
Al igual que en año anteriores, los jóvenes que saben nadar podrán integrarse a las selecciones de cada piscina.
Las clases serán impartidas por profesores de Educación Física y se llevarán a cabo a contar del miércoles 2 de enero y hasta el martes 26 de febrero inclusive, en las seis piscinas municipales con que cuenta la comuna, las que están ubicadas en Villa Dulce, Reñaca Alto, Gómez Carreño, Forestal Alto, Nueva Aurora y Las Achupallas.
Los interesados en tomar parte en estos cursos de natación pueden inscribirse directamente en la piscina correspondiente a su sector, en la Casa del Deporte, ubicada en 5 oriente esquina 7 Norte o bien llamando a los teléfonos 2184674 o 2184678.

SAN PEDRO - With the legendary battleship USS Iowa and renowned LAFD Fireboat 2 as a backdrop, the first ever graduates of the Firefighter/EMS Magnet (FEMS) program at Phineas Banning High School in Wilmington, California were honored by civic leaders, including City of Los Angeles Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas and Assistant Chief Steven Gutierrez, both alumni of the school, at a waterfront ceremony on May 24, 2019. Chief Terrazas warmly congratulated each FEMS graduate with a hearty handshake and words of encouragement as their families cheered their unique accomplishment. One of four youth programs supported by the LAFD, FEMS provides a highly structured and progressive pathway for achieving academic, physical and life skills beneficial to a fire service career, including teamwork, leadership, courage and commitment.

The midday meal program at all the state run primary schools in Tamil Nadu consists of rice, lentils, and vegetables and is prepared using double fortified salt (DFS) containing iron and iodine. These two micronutrients are critical for mental and physical development and the encapsulation technology for adding both iodine and iron to salt was developed by the Micronutrient Initiative (MI) in collaboration with University of Toronto with support from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the World Bank.

Brighter Bites is a collaborative effort designed to improve access to healthy, affordable food and provide nutrition education. The University of Texas School of Public Health, KIPP Schools, the Houston Food Bank and Texas Children's Hospital have partnered to offer the 16-week program to third-grade children enrolled at KIPP Explore Academy and their parents. As you can see from the photos, those healthy kale smoothies are a hit!
